Department Overview

Dance is now a subject of study at a higher level along with pursuit and graceful practice. Courses in this department are designed to develop students creatively by deepening their knowledge of dance. Special emphasis is given here on the context and background of cultural evolution and the consequent development of various styles of dance. Besides, the course also covers the characteristics and development of Bangladeshi dance and the current trend of dance in the world.

Through the courses, students will gain a thorough understanding of the theory, interpretation, history and tradition and evolution of dance. Students will become proficient in the art of dance as well as gain knowledge about its background and perspective.

Admission Requirements

For Admission into undergraduate programs in Bachelor Program in Dance the students should meet minimum GPA 2.00 in both S.S.C and H.S.C level; or minimum 5 subjects in O-level and 2 subjects in A-level among them minimum Grade of B in at least 4 subjects and minimum Grade of C in at least other 3 subjects from any group.

The medium of instruction of Bachelor of Arts in Dance is Bangla.

Academic Schedule

The duration of the Bachelor of Arts in Dance program is four (4) years. Each academic year is composed of two (2) semesters i.e. six (6) months per semester. At the end of each semester, students must appear in the examination, and promotion to the next semester will depend on the result.
